Week Thirty-Two: April 5th-11th

He is risen!  He is risen indeed!  We celebrated Easter with small Easter baskets, a wonderful church service, then lunch at Grandma and Papa's house.

We were able to go and spend a week at the Abernathy ranch after Easter.  This has become one of our favorite vacations.  We stopped on the way up in Santa Barbara to visit the largest Moreton Bay Fig tree in the United States.  The span of it's branches was HUGE!  We took a stroll around the ranch when we finally arrived.  In true Leslie style, she had snacks set out for the kids, and they were in heaven.

On Tuesday it rained all morning.  But truthfully it was pleasant to just relax and enjoy some family time.  In the afternoon we went into town to find a farmer's market. It ended up being only a few booths, but was still fun. We checked out the Carnegie library, which was fun because we had learned a bit about him in CC this year.

Wednesday was a very full day.  We started by checking out the elephant seals.  We stopped for lunch near Hearst castle, then headed down to Morro Bay, stopping at a cookie factory along the way.  Micah adores the elephant seals.  They all loved playing on the beach at Morro Bay.  I could drive for hours in this area (well, sitting passenger).

On Thursday we went to the most exquisite of the California missions.  Mission San Juan de Padua is located in Jolon and is so far removed from city life that much of it is still preserved today.  The fields around it were blooming with poppy's and lupine and were truly breathtaking.  We stopped for the promised Coldstone ice cream on the way home and finished the day exploring the pond and having an exceptional dinner with the Abernathy's where the kids got to brush up on their shuffle board skills.  The kids truly LOVE the dogs on the ranch, especially Rusty.

Chris got a migraine the morning we were to head home.  We ended up heading out later than we hoped, but still had a fun trip home.  We stopped at Pismo Dunes to explore a bit and then met Aunt Bethel and family at In-N-Out for dinner.

Celebrating Isla's first butterfly birthday!  All the girls in the family :)
